Summer Camp

The West Essex YMCA offers a wide variety of Summer Day Camps that are perfect for children from preschool through teens. Our camps provide activities that are educational, exciting and fun, but most importantly, build self-esteem, lasting friendships, and treasured memories.

We intentionally design our camps to be progressive, adding new levels of exploration, responsibility, and adventure.

Payment Information

ALL CAMPS: Starting February 1, a $35 administrative fee will be added for changes to your camp experience. April 1 - Final day for camp deposit refund.

At the Y, we let you pay your summer camp balance in a way that works for you! When you sign up, you'll need to provide payment information, but you stay in control. As long as you pay each installment before the due date listed on your receipt, no automatic payment will be processed. If you partially pay early, only the remaining balance will be charged. You can make payments anytime from registration until each installment’s due date, at any frequency.

Brian Mateer

Pioneer Trails Director

Brian Mateer is thrilled to join the team at the West Essex YMCA as the Youth Development Director, bringing his passion for working with young people with previous experience running a Day Camp. Growing up, Brian loved attending summer camp at YMCA Camp Kanata, where he went from being a camper to a counselor and eventually took on leadership roles. After receiving a degree in Psychology from UNC Chapel Hill, Brian wanted to continue his work with the YMCA full-time. Brian is excited to bring his energy and experience to all West Essex YMCA programs. He is eager to start creating some amazing memories and help kids grow.

Jeremy Lastra

Super Summer and Teen Adventure Director

Jay has overseen camps throughout NJ for the last 15 years. During the school year he oversees the West Essex YMCA’s Before and After School Programs in Livingston and Roseland. Jay will oversee all day-to-day operations of Super Summer and Teen Adventure Camp this year. To Jay, camp builds confidence, friendships, and communities. He is excited to take children on the magical journey of camp.
